Phantom Blade Zero: All Missable Achievements and Their Deadlines

Phantom Blade Zero has several missable achievements, most of which are tied to side quests that become unavailable when you advance the story too far. You can earn all of them in one playthrough, but you need to complete several objectives before defeating regional bosses or leaving certain areas.

Pay attention to Yu’er’s three Tales, Secrets of the Baishan Sect, and the two quests you receive in Village of Lu. Spectral Blade also requires you to revisit earlier regions to complete the Sha-Chi Tower objectives. Along the way, keep completing violet Tales because they are necessary for reaching the true ending.

All 7 Missable Achievements

These achievements require completing the following Tales or reaching the true ending:

The main rule is to finish available Tales before moving into the next region or defeating that area’s final boss. Some quests remain active for several regions, so accepting them is only the beginning. Return to the characters involved whenever a new objective becomes available.

Weeping Creek Valley: Start Spectral Blade and The Healer’s Legacy

Begin by completing the first objectives for A Severed Mindseal and Yu’er’s Tales. Both questlines continue later, but leaving Weeping Creek Valley without completing their early steps can cost you their achievements.

Spectral Blade: A Severed Mindseal

Travel to Valley Sha-Chi Tower Summit and speak to the Friendly Warden to accept A Severed Mindseal.

1. Follow the Tale to obtain the first Primal Stone from the Sha-Chi Tower.
2. Deliver the stone to the Friendly Warden at the top of the tower.

Do not leave Weeping Creek Valley before completing this delivery. You will return to other Sha-Chi Towers later, but the first Primal Stone objective needs to be completed here.

The Healer’s Legacy: Flesh Lily

Find Hua, Deathly Betrothed, near Valley Sha-Chi Tower 1st Floor. Defeat her and collect the Flesh Lily in her boss arena.

Keep the flower for Yu’er’s Tale. You will complete the remaining Flesh Lily objective in Pangzhen.

The Healer’s Legacy: Apprentice Healer

After defeating Peng Meng, the Axemaster, visit Yu’er at the Outpost and accept Apprentice Healer.

1. Collect the three herbs required for the Tale. Their locations are marked on your map.
2. Return all three herbs to Yu’er at the Outpost.

Complete this collection before leaving Weeping Creek Valley. You can then continue with Yu’er’s other requests in Crimson Forest and Pangzhen.

Crimson Forest: Complete the Early Healer and Baishan Quests

Two Tales need your attention in Crimson Forest. Start Secrets of the Baishan Sect and finish A Healer’s Mercy before defeating the regional end boss.

The Last of Baishan: Secrets of the Baishan Sect

Find Lanlan on the bridge near Thief’s Camp and speak to her to accept Secrets of the Baishan Sect.

Next, head to Cliffside Lodge and free the woman held in its basement.

1. Explore Cliffside Lodge and find the basement entrance.
2. Open the basement and free the woman.
3. Keep the Tale active. Its remaining objectives take place in Mandate Encampment.

Make sure you accept this Tale before defeating Bai Chilian at the end of Crimson Forest.

The Healer’s Legacy: A Healer’s Mercy

Speak to Yu’er at Thief’s Camp and accept A Healer’s Mercy. You must find and heal four wounded Outlaws.

1. Open your map and locate the four injured Outlaws.
2. Visit each location and use the healing items to treat the wounded characters.
3. For the Outlaw behind the locked door in Thief’s Camp, collect the key from the basement at Cliffside Lodge.
4. Return to Yu’er at Thief’s Camp after treating all four.

Do not defeat the Crimson Forest end boss until you have returned to Yu’er and completed the four rescues.

Village of Lu: Start The Journey Home and Young Master Lan

Village of Lu introduces two Tales that continue in Pangzhen. Both require you to return to their respective characters after opening the locked door near the end of the region. You also need to start Secrets at the Heart of the Lake for Forbidden Arts Beneath the Lake.

Forbidden Arts Beneath the Lake: Secrets at the Heart of the Lake

Collect the Memory Flowers associated with Secrets at the Heart of the Lake and defeat Dusk, the Puppeteer.

The Tale continues in later regions. Keep following its available objectives as you progress through the story, and complete it before entering Mirage Estate.

Together Till the End: The Journey Home

Find Old Man Gen at Gen’s Hideout and speak to him to accept The Journey Home.

1. Continue through Village of Lu until you open the locked door near the end of the region.
2. Return to Old Man Gen after opening the door.
3. Speak to him and accept his request before leaving for Pangzhen.

The Tale continues in Pangzhen, but you must complete this first conversation before moving on.

A Wanderer’s Honor: Young Master Lan

Find Young Master Lan Shaodi at Lan’s Hideout and speak to him to start Young Master Lan.

1. Progress until you open the locked door near the end of Village of Lu.
2. Return to Lan Shaodi.
3. Speak to him again before entering the next region.

You will meet him again in Pangzhen to finish his Tale.

Collect the Amber Shard and Weapon Near the Sea

After defeating the Village of Lu end boss, described as the young woman near the sea, return to the dock area and collect the Amber Shard and weapon.

These items become inaccessible after you leave the area. The Amber Shard can be recovered early in New Game+ if you miss it, but collecting it now avoids another trip.

Pangzhen: Finish The Journey Home, Young Master Lan, and Flesh Lily

Three achievement-related quest objectives become available in Pangzhen. Complete each one before moving on.

Together Till the End: Complete The Journey Home

1. Find the branches blocking the route near Pong of Fading Song.
2. Burn the branches to clear the way.
3. Continue through the area to Old Man Gen’s House.
4. Complete the objective at the house.
5. Return to Old Man Gen at Village of Lu.

Speaking to Gen after completing the house objective finishes The Journey Home and unlocks Together Till the End.

A Wanderer’s Honor: Complete Young Master Lan

1. Travel to Pavilion of Knowledge Crossroads.
2. Follow the road until a cutscene begins.
3. Receive the key from Young Master Lan.
4. Speak to Lan Shaodi again.
5. Enter the manor to complete the Tale.

Finishing the manor objective unlocks A Wanderer’s Honor.

The Healer’s Legacy: Finish Flesh Lily

After defeating Chang Hong, the Thunder Spear, visit Yu’er and speak to the old man inside the house. Finish the Flesh Lily Tale to complete this part of The Healer’s Legacy.

You will receive a dialogue choice during the conversation, but the choice does not affect the achievement.

Mandate Encampment: Finish The Last of Baishan

Return to Secrets of the Baishan Sect in Mandate Encampment. The next objective involves an optional boss and a body that you must inspect before fighting Yubi.

1. Travel to Confinement.
2. Take the route to the right and cross the wooden gate to reach Wu Lengshuang, the Soft Sword.
3. Defeat Wu Lengshuang.
4. Interact with the body in the flowers near the boss area.
5. Continue through Mandate Encampment and defeat Yubi, No. 21 Swordfighter Puppet, the regional end boss.

Defeating Yubi completes the Tale and unlocks The Last of Baishan, provided you accepted it from Lanlan and freed the woman at Cliffside Lodge earlier.

Meigu Lake: Continue A Severed Mindseal

Return to the Sha-Chi Tower to obtain the second Primal Core for Spectral Blade.

1. Travel to the Sha-Chi Tower in Meigu Lake.
2. Take the sea route to reach the part of the tower containing the Primal Core.
3. Collect the Primal Core.
4. Meet the Warden at the top of the Sha-Chi Tower and deliver it.

Although you can reach the tower earlier, the required Primal Core is accessible through the sea route. Make sure you use that route to complete this stage of A Severed Mindseal.

How to Get the True Ending

With Heart and Blood requires the true ending, All Comes to Light. To reach it, finish the violet Tales available throughout the campaign before passing the major story checkpoints.

Complete the Violet Tales Before Mirage Estate

Complete every available violet Tale before progressing into Mirage Estate. Some Tales cannot be completed immediately, so return to them after unlocking more of the story.

In Pangzhen, you must collect the parts of a snake to open the door leading toward Mirage Estate. This objective belongs to The Four Serpent Houses.

Before entering Mirage Estate, finish all violet Tales that are currently available. The game displays a warning if you have not met the requirements for the true ending. If you approach the entrance without receiving that warning, you can proceed.

Finish the Remaining Violet Tales in the Later Regions

Some violet Tales remain unfinished when you first enter Mirage Estate. Continue progressing through the story and complete them when their remaining objectives become available.

Mount Soulrend, the eighth region, contains the final point of no return. You will receive another warning before entering the final area, even if you have already completed everything necessary for the true ending.

Use this opportunity to finish every remaining violet Tale. Then complete the final story sequence to reach All Comes to Light and unlock With Heart and Blood.

Spectral Blade: Complete the Final Sha-Chi Tower

The final stage of A Severed Mindseal becomes available after reaching Mount Soulrend, the eighth region. Return to Crimson Forest to find the last Sha-Chi Tower.

1. Fast-travel to Crimson Forest after reaching the endgame.
2. Explore the region, which is now covered in snow.
3. Use the newly accessible route to reach the final Sha-Chi Tower.
4. Collect the last Primal Stone.
5. Return to the Warden at the top of the tower and deliver it.

Completing this final delivery finishes A Severed Mindseal and unlocks Spectral Blade.

Missable Village of Lu Items

After defeating the end boss in Village of Lu, return to the dock near the sea before leaving the region. Collect these two items:

• Amber Shard: Loot the shard near the tree.
• Weapon: Collect the weapon found in the same area.

Once you leave Village of Lu, you cannot return to this area during the same visit. Missing the Amber Shard does not end the run, because it can be collected early in New Game+, but you will need to repeat the opening portion of the game to get it.
