The twelve Emblem Lords from Fire Emblem Engage are fashioned after the cards. Through the use of a concept called Emblem Rings, which is essential to Engage’s plot, 12 characters from previous Fire Emblem games are included in the plot.
Tarot cards, which functioned somewhat like playing cards, first appeared in 15th-century Europe. Eventually, fortune reading or cartomancy became a common use for such card decks. Cards and playing cards are two different things today since fortune telling has become more and more popular.
Tarot has never been a mechanic in a Fire Emblem game before, thus including it as a bonus for buying the game feels strange. Tarot archetypes are used as a foundation for character development in a variety of types of media, and boy, does Fire Emblem like to use them. In Fire Emblem games, characters like the wise old man, the womanizer, the hermit, and the fool are all rather common.
