These are the steps to improve this weapon to the max

1. Choose the Broken Hero Sword as your starting weapon
2. Collect 60 Gold as fast as you can, although you will need more later, so keep farming
3. Upgrade the sword to +2 as soon as you see a blacksmith
4. At Boos rooms choose Mythril, It can appear at the beginning, but if it is not the case you will end up getting Mythril before reaching the third floor
