Helmets are an essential part of your equipment in the game. While most helmets can be used by every character, there are specific exceptions. Certain helmets are gender-specific, being either for the male characters (Crono, Frog, Magus, and Robo) or the female ones (Ayla, Lucca, Marle). Moreover, some are exclusive to just Magus or Lucca.

• Additional Info: Earned by completing the Rainbow Shell side quest. Choose between one prism dress (for females only) or three slightly less potent prism helms. The prism helms grant +9 Magic Defense and “lock status.”

Ozzie Pants

• Additional Info: Is this the game’s ultimate helmet or merely a nuisance? Charm the Ozzie Pants from Ozzie during the Ozzie trio battle or when challenging him solo later on, and acquire this unique pants set wearable on your head. It offers superior physical defense, but it causes chaos and HP down status, so complementing with an amulet might be ideal. It’s non-sellable as it’s a special item (and gets removed in a NewGame+).
