Agents of Operation Overhaul, gather up as Deceive Inc has dropped a huge update. The first live balance update requires no download and will automatically take effect in-game. Check out all the changes and patch notes of the Operation Overhaul live update.
Operation Overhaul Live Update
Damage Falloff
One of the largest updates to DI’s sandbox this time around is Damage Falloff, so the devs are keeping an eye on user feedback, crunching the numbers, and digging a little deeper to see where it should go from here. The Deceive Inc community identified this as the most challenging part of this new reality, so even though the team is looking more closely at the mechanic, they still wanted to make full-auto weapons more forgiving in the interim.
- Changed start distance on falloff for full-auto weapons 10m => 15m
Guards Behavior
Players have been frustrated due to the sheer number of guards that can rapidly swarm a duel when they are in melee only mode. The number of guards that actively attack you when you’re without heat is being reduced to one. By cutting the aggro-ed guards in half, this should help lessen the chaos when you add this to all of the participants in a fight.
- Max amount of actively aggro-ed guard without a heat level 2 => 1
Agents
Ace
A lot of changes have been made to Ace’s passive, and the team has received a lot of feedback about how the charge now feels awkward because of when it starts when you shoot your weapon. In the short term, the game has offset this by giving Ace players a little bit more charge speed, but we’ll be looking into this more thoroughly in the near future.
Weapon
Queen of Diamond
- Charge time shortened 1s => .65s
Jack of Diamond
- Charge time shortened .45s => .3s
King of Diamond
- Charge time shortened 1.3s => 1s
Chavez
A tight ammo economy is not a fun gameplay lever, as some excellent feedback pointed out. With this update, the devs are moving away from this on two weapons, including Chavez’s Duke, who now has a full clip per box.
Weapon
Mod 2: Duke
- Ammo amount gained per box raised 2 => 4
Larcin
Just like Chavez, Larcin’s Violence is being granted a more generous ammo economy so that it can more fully establish itself as a special weapon in his toolbox.
Weapon
Mod 2: Violence
- Ammo amount gained per box raised 4 => 8
Expertise
Grande Finale is still an extremely useful tool for Larcin and his group. To make its use a bit more committed in a fight, its cooldown is now longer than that of his other options. However, in the near future, the dev team plans to address a few issues related to its potential interactions that could make it stronger than intended.
Mod 1: Grand Finale
- Cooldown extended 60s => 75s
Red
The intensity and oppressiveness of Red’s heartbreak and charm have been major talking points lately. While ensuring that the ability is still a valuable weapon in Red’s toolbox, the team is taking steps to make it less annoying to play against. They’re also reducing the power of Red’s Lovebite shotgun, which has been called the most lethal weapon in his arsenal at the moment.
Weapon
Mod 2: Lovebite
- Damage 40 => 37
- Fire Rate 1.15 => 1.05 shots per second
Charm
- Reduced Charmed duration 8s => 5s
Heartbreak
- Heartbreak Duration 8s => 6s
- Heartbreak additional damage now in line with vulnerable status effect 35% => 25%
Squire
With the release of Operation Overhaul, Squire’s javelin is in a unique position. Even though it’s among the weapons in the current game state most impacted by recoil, it performs incredibly well for anyone who can control it. Since this is outside the purview of a live update, we will investigate making the weapon less cumbersome in the future; however, in order to level the playing field, the game must slow down the rate at which it melts opponents.
Weapon
Mod 1: Trident
- Damage 11 => 10 per bullet
- Burst fire rate 10 => 9 shot per second
- Headshot Damage 15 => 14
- Reload Speed 2s => 2.2s
Maps
Hard Sell
- Fixed a close player spawn on top of the Auction Hall
Fragrant Shore
- Buffed ‘drawers spawn pools’ to have items more consistently.
- Fixed a keycard spawning behind a bed.
Sound Eclipse
- Buffed ‘drawers spawn pools’ to have items more consistently.
- Tweaked some close spawn points in the habitation section.
Known Issue
Owing to the nature of live balancing, visual feedback regarding ammunition pickup will continue to show the previous quantity of ammunition until we issue a client update later on. In the meantime, this will affect Chavez’s Duke and Larcin’s Violence ammo pickup prompt.
