Many players are baffled by Knowing how to Use Spells in Dark and Darker. Although the game features a wide variety of classes, not all of them are designed to use magic. Even if you are familiar with the classes that use magic, the actual process itself can be a little confusing. So, this is how casting magic spells in Dark and Darker works and how the spell system is structured.

How to Use Spells in Dark and Darker

Based on your class, you’ll need a magic staff or a spell book to cast spells. Wizards and Clerics are the only two classes in this game that have access to spells. In this game, you can cast spells as seen below:

  1. For both classes, begin by securing a Staff as your main weapon. Spellbooks are also available to clerics.
  2. Next, equip the Spell Memory ability by going to the Ability section.
  3. Add the spells you wish to employ right now to your spell memory.
  4. You can combine and use these spells based on the knowledge you possess.
  5. Hold down the key to activate your spell memory.
  6. Here, place the cursor where you wish to cast the spell.
  7. When you right-click on it, the spell will start to be used.

How The Spell System Works in Dark and Darker

The knowledge possessed by your character is used in the spell system. Your character can equip and cast more spells the more knowledge they have. A second Spell Memory Wheel can still be equipped with spells. However, you won’t be able to cast magic until you have acquired enough knowledge. There is a different Tier for each spell. Therefore, the cost of casting the spell will increase as the Tier level does.

Both characters begin the game with a base Knowledge of 12. You can enhance your Knowledge by using different gear that you can obtain throughout the game. Some of this equipment consists of pendants, gloves, amulets, and other items.
