  1. Learn the course: Slow down and memorize landmarks denoting upcoming twists and turns. Try to find hidden power-ups that may reduce your time.
  2. Always look ahead: Plan for the next hoop before passing through the first one to minimize the amount of missed hoops and penalties.
  3. Aim for the hoops: Consistently hitting each hoop is essential to finish the third trial in time. Missing a hoop incurs a three-second penalty.
  4. Hit the power-ups: Yellow orbs provide an immediate speed boost and add energy to your broom’s stamina bar. Try to get at least one per row.
  5. Get strategic with speed: Overusing the speed boost can mess you up, causing over-correction or missed line-up for hoops. Speed boost through the hoops and then back off until you’re correctly lined up for the next one.

Learn the Course

One of the best things you can do to improve your broom trial scores is to learn the course. While there’s a lot to do in Hogwarts Legacy, taking the time to slow down and truly memorize the landmarks that denote upcoming twists and turns can be hugely beneficial. If you find that there’s a specific trial you’re losing to over and over again, take a round to disregard the timer and truly learn the course.

In the third trial, for example, some of the yellow power-ups can be found beneath a bridge that you don’t need to go through to hit either the prior or upcoming hoop. However, if you get those power-ups, your time will go down significantly. Once you feel like you have a good handle on the course and know where to expect each hoop, speed up again and re-try the run.

Always Look Ahead

Another important tip is to always look ahead. Before you go through a hoop, you should already be looking ahead and planning for the next hoop. Start turning or moving up or down to line yourself up while passing through the first hoop so that traveling to the next hoop is more or less a straight shot. While this can be tricky to get the hang of, it will minimize the amount of hoops that you miss which reduces the amount of penalties you receive for missing hoops.

Aim for the Hoops

While it may sound obvious, aiming for the hoops is key to success in the broom trials. While you can stand to miss a few hoops on the first and second rounds, the third round of broom trials requires you to consistently hit each of the hoops in order to finish in time. You receive a three-second penalty for each hoop you miss, and only catching the flags on either side of the hoop doesn’t count. We managed to beat the third trial with two missed hoops, but we were cutting it extremely close to the wire.

Hit the Power-Ups

The yellow orbs that are lined up in between each hoop not only provide you with an immediately faster pace, but add energy to your broom’s stamina bar so that you can utilize your speed boost. The placement of each stack of power-ups also offers a hint to where the game thinks you should be in order to hit the next hoop. Try to get at least one yellow orb per row, though it’s ideal if you can get all four.

Get Strategic with Speed

While it might seem like always using the speed boost is a good choice, it can mess you up in the long run. Your speed boost loses strength the longer that you hold it during regular flight, and this seems to be the case for the broom trials as well. Not only that, but going too fast can cause you to over-correct or miss the line up for hoops which will give you a hefty penalty. Speed boost through the hoops and then back off until
