Pokemon Go Nearing 500 Million Copies Sold

Last Updated on 28 May, 2025

In the 29 years since the first game came out, almost 500 million Pokémon video games have been sold.

The Pokémon Company has not disclosed specific sales figures for individual titles, but it’s clear that the series’ consistent success over nearly three decades has contributed to this remarkable total. The games are available in nine different languages which makes them accessible to a global audience.

Set in a revitalized Lumiose City from Pokémon X and Y, this new installment introduces real-time battles and Wild Zones, offering a fresh gameplay experience. Players can choose from starter Pokémon like Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile.

Pokémon is now a big part of everyday life. It was announced that all 140 episodes of Pokémon the Series: XY will be added to Netflix next month. And on May 29, a new expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket will be released.

With its upcoming releases and ongoing popularity, Pokémon shows no signs of slowing down as it continues to captivate fans around the world.
