Stardew Valley 1.6 Update New Books

Animal Catalogue

We’re starting off our list of new books with the Animal Catalogue. This book is available at Marnie’s Shop. This shop is now available 24/7 and you can access it from the south entrance of your farm. The book is available for 5000 gold. When you purchase this book, it will allow you to access Marnie’s Shop even when she isn’t around. This is our favorite book of this list and that’s why we have put it in the number one spot. So, gone are the days when you come into the shop and can’t buy stuff because you don’t find Marnie behind the counter anymore.

Dwarvish Safety Manual

The next book on the list is Dwarvish Safety Manual. To purchase this book, make your way to the Dwarf that lives in the Mines. The book costs 4000 gold and when you read this, bombs will deal 25% less damage to you. So, if you’re a player who visits the Skull Caverns or Mines a lot, then this book is surely for you.

The Diamond Hunter

The next book is up for grabs at the Ginger Island. Traverse to the Volcano Dungeon and get to floor five. Speak to the Dwarf nearby and you can then buy The Diamond Hunter from him. However, this book is a little on the expensive side as it costs 10 diamonds. This book will empower you with the ability of dropping a diamond when you mine stones by hand. So, normal rocks now have a chance to drop you diamonds.

Monster Compendium

The next book on our list today is Monster Compendium. This book can be found if you have slayed every type of monster in every situation. Eventually you’ll get one dropped from a monster. When you read this, monsters will have a small chance to drop double the loot.

The Alleyway Buffet

This particular book is a little tricky to find. It’s found at a secret location inside of a golden trashcan. The trashcan can be found between the Blacksmith and Joja Mart. You should be able to find a hardwood stump and a boulder placed one in front of the other. Get rid of the two and you should be able to find the trashcan behind a tree near. Search the trashcan and you’ll find the book called The Alleway Buffet. If you read this book, you’ll have a greater chance to find items inside trash cans.

Woodcutters Weekly

The next book of the Stardew Valley 1.6 update’s latest books is Woodcutter’s Weekly. You can get this book randomly by chopping down trees. You can also buy this book from the Book Seller for 8000 gold. Reading this book will help you gain some foraging experience. If you have not maxed out your foraging level yet, do get your hands on this book.

Raccoon Journal

The Raccoon Journal can be obtained once you finish all the quests given to the player by Mr. Raccoon. This book makes weeds have a greater chance to yield mixed seeds. You can repurchase this book for 999 wood but this time it will just grant you foraging XP.

Book Of Mysteries

Book of Mysteries can be found in regular mystery boxes. Mystery boxes can be purchased from the Calico Egg Merchant at the Desert Festival. You can buy up to 10 a day over the course of the 3-day festival.

The Art O’ Crabbing

To get this book, make your way to the Squid Fest. This fest takes place on the beach during Winter. Head towards the Squid Fest sign where there is a Squid Chef. He will let you know about the squid fishing challenge where you’ll win prizes if you meet the daily catch targets. You need to catch 8 Squids in total to get the book. The best way to do this is to use the Bait Maker. Put Squid in there to get Squid Bait and you’ll get Squids a lot faster. Once you do catch all 8 Squids, go to the man behind a counter beside the Squid Chef. He will give you the book which makes sure crab pots have a 25% chance to yield double items.

If you come and do this challenge on the 2nd day again, you will get different rewards. You can find some new books that the Book Seller will be selling then.

Mapping Cave Systems

You can get this book at the Adventurer’s Guild. All you have to do is head to the backroom. Now you’ll find a blue box at the end of the room. Click on that and you’ll get the Mapping Cave Systems. If you read this, you get a 50% discount on Marlon’s item retrieval service. So, from now on if you die at the Mines, the item retrieval service will be much cheaper.

Woody’s Secret

Woody’s Secret is a book that can be found randomly by chopping trees. It grants the player a power that gives felled trees a 5% chance to yield double wood. It is pretty rare so if you can’t find this, then you can also buy it from the Book Seller.
