Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Treasure Hunt

Since every generation has rigidly adhered to the design decisions that made the Pokémon series the most lucrative media franchise in history, the series has been stuck in a rut for decades.

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, all of that has changed, marking the long-awaited advancement that fans have been hoping for. But how effective is Game Freak’s debut open-world RPG? The answer is convoluted after being in Paldea for a while.

The key gameplay mechanics that fans have come to anticipate and adore from the 25-year-old franchise are still present in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Fighting and catching wild Pokémon continues to be addictive.

The novel free-aim catch method from Pokémon Legends: Arceus may have disappointed some, but Gen 9 is brimming with other innovative and fun elements, including the Let’s Go fight system. With the useful tool, your Pokémon can wander throughout the overworld, picking up objects and gathering materials to make TMs.

The co-op multiplayer in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is the major change introduced with Generation 9.

Raids Review

It is innovative that you can play the entire game with a companion from beginning to end. There is now the opportunity to enter another player’s world to capture version-exclusive Pokémon rather than having to trade with them. Also carried over from game to game is save progression. In relation to multiplayer, the Raid function from Generation 8 is returning and even better. Players can now assault whenever they wish in Tera Raids since the turn-based mechanism has been abandoned. Similar to Pokémon GO,

It’s challenging and thrilling because you only have a limited amount of time to beat the raid boss. Even the post-game unlocks 6 and 7 star raids, which are virtually unbeatable.

New Pokemon in Game

Since the Unova region debuted in 2010, the Pokémon designs in Scarlet and Violet have been among the series’ most distinctive. Even though I have adored every Generation, there is no denying that over the past ten years, many areas have played it extremely safe. Vanillish is nothing more than a floating ice cream cone, let’s not pretend otherwise.

Since Game Freak took significant risks with Scarlet and Violet, Gen 9 seems different. Paldea has an incredibly diverse selection of Pokémon designs, from a Fairy dog made of cinnamon rolls to an epic ninja grasshopper slicing through blades of grass. The evolution of the dolphin Palafin into All Might from My Hero Academia, complete with flexing muscles, is just one example of the new Pokédex’s excitingly bizarre turns. Scarlet and Violet are never dull, and I couldn’t wait to scour the entire map for new Pokémon to join my team.

About Game Story

The Pokémon franchise has never been very good at storytelling. The Pokémon series has rarely taken chances, with the exception of Diamond and Pearl’s end-of-the-world-bringing Team Galaxy and Black and White’s moral quandary about whether it is cruel for humans to keep Pokémon. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s central plot has emotional ramifications.

The multi-story design of Gen 9 is one of Game Freak’s wisest choices. Each story gives the characters of Scarlet and Violet a chance to breathe, whether you are forming a rival friendship with Nemona in the Gym Leader-driven Victory Road, solving the mystery of Team Star in Starfall Street, or pursuing Titan Pokémon with Arven in Path of Legends. Because I cared about the characters & cried during some story beats.

The fourth campaign, which combines all three stories into an epic conclusion, is the game’s really clever trick. The tale is the only focus of the final hour, and boy is the resolution heartbreaking. When Ed Sheeran’s song Celestial came on during the credits, I genuinely felt a knot in my throat since I had just had emotional catharsis from the hours I had spent in Scarlet and Violet and I wasn’t prepared to say goodbye to my Paldea friends. Would extra cutscenes have improved the game? Sure. But ultimately, this is by far Game Freak’s best story.

Game Graphics

Unfortunately, Scarlet and Violet’s graphics suffer from significant flaws. Look, I am by no means an expert in graphics, and I am not concerned about frame rate. I found Sword and Shield to be endearing when millions of irate fans complained about how the game’s trees seemed. So even I, a fierce supporter of Game Freak who will go to any lengths to uphold them, was taken aback by the technical problems Gen 9 is experiencing.

It would be one thing if the only graphics issues were things like object clipping or environmental pop-ins. Instead, the texture-covered portions of the entire map resemble Pokémon Snap on the Nintendo 64. It happens frequently if an encounter isn’t on flat ground; in the first thirty minutes of the story alone, I had a Pokémon battle when the entire floor underneath me vanished and individuals were hovering over endless space.

I’ve observed flying NPCs and Pokémon in urban areas, as well as Poké Balls haphazardly lodged inside floors of buildings. Even after the Day 1 patch, there is still an item drop nearby the Bug-type Gym that cannot be picked up.

Final Conclussion

Despite being a fantastic trip, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet suffers from serious technological issues.

In the end, though, I am able to overlook these drawbacks because I firmly feel that this is the best Pokémon game ever created in terms of plot, gameplay, features, and setting.

The technical difficulties actually make me depressed because the Paldea region deserves better. Gen 9 was supposed to be Game Freak’s crowning achievement, but problems and malfunctions keep it from fulfilling that promise. This will be a complete deal-breaker and an unpleasant pill for some fans to bear.

A good game Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
